Nonfiction Copy Edit Sample
A light copy edit corrects for mistakes in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. A medium copy edit includes these elements as well as suggestions for consistency and limited higher-level edits, such as correcting for parallelism and using active or passive voice as appropriate for the document.

These edits are made according to The Chicago Manual of Style and Merrian-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

Fiction Copy Edit Sample
Fiction copy edits include correcting objective errors such as mistakes in spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Other edits can be highly subjective. I do my best to respect the author's voice while also respecting their want for a more polished manuscript that will appeal to readers.
Style Sheet Sample
Every project includes a custom style sheet written according to that particular project's needs and the client's wishes. Style sheets are kept for consistency and clarity.

Sample Developmental Letter 1
This is an excerpt of a developmental letter sent to a sci-fi author, de-identified and used with permission. In this letter, I note a pacing issue, my thoughts on what might be the cause, and possible solutions.
Sample Developmental Letter 2
This is an excerpt of a developmental letter sent to a fantasy author, de-identified and used with permission. In this letter, I discuss increasing immersion by increasing internalization.

Writing Sample
This is an excerpt from my short story "Flies in the Fibres," which was published under my pen name, Roxanne Klimek, in the Sept 2021 issue of On Spec Magazine.
